Comprehensive training will be provided to become a fully competent Shot Peen Operative working on aircraft components.
As a Trainee Shot Peen Operative, you will train and work in line with strict quality, safety, and regulatory standards. You’ll learn the principles and techniques of shot peening and grit blasting while supporting experienced operatives in day-to-day production activities.
This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, develop practical engineering skills, and build a long-term career in the aerospace sector.

Role: Trainee Shot Peen Operative
Location: Near Heathrow Airport
Shift: 4 on, 4 off (12 hour shifts)
Salary: £28,620 – £30,000 incl. shift allowance
Main Responsibilities:
- Undergo structured training in shot peening, grit blasting, equipment operation, and interpreting technical drawings in accordance with EASA 145 standards.
- Assist senior operatives in setting up and operating shot peening machinery.
- Learn to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical documentation to determine process requirements.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of shot peening equipment and work areas.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve production targets and deadlines.
- Participate in ongoing skills development.
- Support production workflow, including part preparation for plating and prioritising NDT components.
- Maintain workspace cleanliness, including filter systems and booths, following 5S standards.
Ideal candidate profile:
- Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in shot peening or grit blasting (desirable but not essential).
- Willingness to learn and follow guidance from experienced operatives.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and tools is an advantage.
- Able to lift and carry heavy items and stand for prolonged periods.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to procedures.
- GCSE-level education or equivalent.
- Fluent communication skills in written and spoken English.
Additional Information:
- Training will be provided for overhead crane use, manual handling & other areas.
- Physical work is involved, lifting heavy aircraft components.
