After an exceptionally busy year in 2021, 2022 shows no sign of slowing down. As we see in the news, there are substantial staff shortages across airlines and airports throughout the world, causing delays and stress to passengers who are desperate to travel again.

We are also seeing significant shortages in specialist engineering disciplines due to pandemic induced early retirements, or many having left the aviation sector altogether.

These circumstances have forced companies to rethink their candidate acquisition strategies. No longer can they rely on reactive advertising campaigns, with many now opting for specialist support to proactively identify talent on their behalf.

We expect to see the shortages continue for some while, as aviation continues to catch up with the lost opportunities of lockdown and closed borders.

I would encourage all our industry friends to add to their apprenticeship numbers (or start them again) so we begin to create a new cohort of aviation professionals who will satisfy the increasing demands over the next 5 – 10 years.

I take this opportunity to thank our clients in these challenging times and be assured that we will not stop until we get you the best that is out there!

Ian Taylor, CEO
