Aeronautical Configuration Management Expert

Our client is a well-established company in the aerospace sector, operating since 1962 in the design and production of avionics equipment and systems for airplanes and helicopters.

Role: Configuration Management Expert
Location: Cassina de’ Pecchi, Milan
Contract: Permanent

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing configuration data, documentation, and change processes across the lifecycle of avionic products and systems.
This position requires both technical competence and strong organizational and leadership skills, ensuring consistency, traceability, and compliance with aerospace standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and maintain configuration management (CM) processes for avionic and aeronautical systems;
• Control and monitor product baselines, engineering changes, and documentation updates in accordance with company and customer procedures;
• Ensure traceability and integrity of configuration data throughout the product lifecycle;
• Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure alignment of configuration items;
• Manage change requests and configuration audits to maintain certification compliance;
• Contribute to the definition and improvement of internal CM tools, methods, and best practices;
• Support project managers and team leaders in planning and tracking configuration activities;
• Provide guidance and coordination to other team members where required.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electronic, Mechanical, or similar field preferred);
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in configuration management within the aeronautical or avionics sector;
• Knowledge of configuration and document management standards and tools (e.g. EIA-649, ISO 10007, EN 9100, PLM systems);
• Understanding of aerospace development processes, certification requirements, and engineering documentation control;
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills;
• Strong teamworking abilities and the capacity to coordinate and organize the work of others when required;
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with a structured approach to problem solving;
• Good proficiency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of Italian or other European languages is a plus.
