My client is looking for an Aircraft Component Inspector to join on them on a permanent basis.

As an Aircraft Component Inspector, you will be responsible for the detailed inspection of aircraft components using SAP system to record condition of component and create a cost effective repair route sheet as appropriate I.A.W OEM CMM’s and SOPM’s.

Role: Aircraft Component Inspector
Pay: From £28,200 per annum plus shift allowance
Location: Hayes, Middlesex
Contract: Permanent role
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday or Tuesday – Saturday (Overtime)
Right to live and work within the UK without restrictions.

Job Profile

  • Undertake and complete a detailed inspection of all components (with exception of components which require a quarantine process due to incident / accident.) using latest criteria and Inspection equipment.
  • Creation and modification of component overhaul / Repair routes within SAP as required
  • Ensuring that all information (I.E. P/N, S/N and Condition) is recorded in the shop Repair Order and on SAP system.
  • Carry out accurate measurement of components where required due to workload.
  • Work to Production priority lists – ASPEN, Milestone dates as provided by Production Control.
  • Interface with Technical engineering, and other production departments where necessary.
  • Other duties as directed by the Section Manager, Team Leader or Leading Hand
  • Train and mentor other team personnel within the role subject to your qualifications and experience.
  • Maintain a personal Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
  • Actively participate in department daily dialog meetings
  • Working with computers and screens for prolonged periods.
  • Sitting down for majority of working day.
  • Workshop has fluctuating temperature dependent upon time of year and operations underway in other Production departments.
  • Occasional loud noises from machinery and other production department activity.
  • Very good (Aided or unaided) vision to allow defects to be detected.
  • Occasional lifting of heavy components

Skills/Experience Required

  • Extensive experience within an Aerospace Engineering or equivalent environment.
  • Previous mechanical component inspection background.
  • PC literate.
  • Previous experience working within an SAP computer system would advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of inspection techniques and equipment
  • Previous practical experience using imperial measurement tools.
  • Previous knowledge of manuals and Boeing websites
  • To promote and monitor compliance with legislation, company policy and codes of practise relating to Health and Safety at work.
  • To be aware of and work within company policies, procedures and agreements
  • Avoid setting precedents which could be detrimental to operations and business.
  • An awareness of the Major Accident Prevention plan (MAPP)
  • An awareness and understanding of responsibilities outlined in the company’s environmental procedures
  • All duties shall be undertaken in compliance with Safety and Environmental Regulations and Company Procedures

Education & Training

  • Essential – Strong experience in a similar role
  • Educated to GCSE level Maths and English A-C
  • A’ Level or equivalent qualification in an engineering subject would be desirable
  • Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English
  • Aerospace apprenticeship preferably
