Grinder, CNC Turner and CNC Miller Contracts!
An established aerospace manufacturing organisation based in Yeovil is seeking a number of experienced Grinders, CNC Turners and CNC Millers on a contract basis.
Days, nights and weekend shifts are available!
DAY SHIFT (CNC Millers & Turners):
Shift: Mon-Fri. Week 1: 7am-3:30pm. Week 2: 3:30pm-midnight
37 hours per week
Pay: £23.02 per hour (Skilled Worker) OR £23.69 per hour (indentured Skilled Worker)
NIGHT SHIFT (CNC Turners):
After one month training period on day shift (£19.51-£20.08/hr):
Shift: Sun 10pm-7am. Mon-Thurs nights Midnight – 7am
34.5 hours per week
Pay: £29.27 per hour (Skilled Worker) OR £30.12 per hour (indentured Skilled Worker)
WEEKEND NIGHT SHIFT (Grinder, CNC Miller & CNC Turner):
Shift: Fri, Sat & Sun. nights 7pm-7am
36 hours per week
Pay: £29.27 per hour (Skilled Worker) OR £30.12 per hour (indentured Skilled Worker)
All pay rates attract holiday pay in addition (An extra 12.07% per hour).

Main responsibilities:
Turners:
- Centre lathe turning – manufacturing parts from start to finish to aerospace specifications
- Setting and running bespoke work on 2-axis CNC lathes
- Previous experience with Mazatrol/Mazak controls preferred
- Operator Control of Quality (OCQ), including stamping to confirm quality standards
- Interpreting engineering drawings and following documented processes
Millers:
- Manual milling and/or;
- CNC programming and machining (this will entail the programming, setting & running of 3 axis milling centres)
Grinders:
- Internal & external grinding, surface & thread grinding
- Honing
- Produce grinding tolerances/ finishes to Aerospace Standard i.e. 0.0002″ internal/external diameter, 2-4 Micro Inch surface finishes and concentricity of 0.0002″.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Engineering Apprenticeship (desirable but not essential)
- Strong knowledge of CNC / Milling /Manual Turning/Grinding
- Confident using hand measuring equipment (Vernier, Micrometer, Thread & Plug Gauges)
- High standard of Health & Safety awareness
- Experience working to company processes and procedures
- Ability to work in a customer-focused environment and achieve targets
- Comfortable collaborating with Designers and Engineers
- Understanding of aerospace manufacturing practices and safety-critical work
- PC literate
- Strong attention to Health & Safety at all times
- Team player with flexibility and initiative
- Commitment to continuous improvement
