Recruiting a Skilled / Indentured Grinder to join a well-established aerospace manufacturing site in Yeovil, Somerset.
The role involves the precision grinding of aerospace components in line with manufacturing instructions, engineering specifications, and customer/regulatory requirements.
Role: Grinder – Aerospace Manufacturing (Night Shift – Contract)
Location: Yeovil
Shift: Night Shift (following up to 1 month of training on day shift)
Night Shift Pay Rate: £28.49 per hour PAYE (Skilled Worker) or;
£29.31 per hour PAYE (Indentured Skilled Worker)
Both rates attract holiday pay in addition (An extra 12.07% per hour)
** Please note whilst training on day shift, the pay will be a day-shift pay rate of £18.99 – £19.54 per hour.
** We can only accept UK or NATO passport holders due to the nature of the work.

Main Responsibilities:
- Internal and external grinding using MDI (Manual Data Input) CNC machinery
- Surface grinding and thread grinding
- Operator Control of Quality (OCQ), including stamping to confirm product quality
- Ensuring on-time delivery by completing work to the required standard
- Interpreting engineering drawings and following documented processes
- Working effectively within a lean manufacturing environment
Qualifications & Experience
- Engineering apprenticeship (desirable but not essential)
- Strong knowledge of aerospace grinding tolerances and finishes, including:
- 0.0002″ internal/external diameter
- 2-4 microinch surface finishes
- Concentricity to 0.0002″
- Honing experience
- Competent use of precision measuring equipment, including:
- Digital micrometers
- Comparators
- Air plug gauges
- Surface finish measuring equipment
- High standard of Health & Safety awareness
- Customer-focused approach with the ability to meet production targets
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and designers
- Understanding of aerospace practices and safety-critical work
- PC literate
- Continuous improvement mindset
Vetting will include a right to work check, drug screen, 5 years’ referencing and a DBS check.
