A unique opportunity has arisen with my client for a Head of Planning & Engineering on a permanent basis in Ireland.

Role: Head of Planning & Engineering
Salary: Upon Application
Location: Shannon

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the Planning & Engineering strategy, plans and initiatives for both sites in Shannon, which includes setting standards and best practices for both teams across both sites.
  • Lead, develop, coach and support the Planning & Engineering team across both sites in Shannon and be the escalation point for all Planning & Engineering matters, which include driving performance and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure appropriate succession planning is in place across the team.
  • Build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and employees on all levels.
  • Provide guidance and lead the planning teams across both Shannon sites, in the delivery of a high-quality planning service to the operation.
  • Provide guidance and lead the engineering teams across both Shannon sites, in the execution of the Engineering strategy.
  • Ensure role training is provided to all Planning & Engineering team members and the team hold the required competency standard.
  • Ensures all projects are accurately planned based on the agreed customers work scope in the required time to allow all stakeholders have their allocated time for input to the project plan.
  • Ensure processes are in place to continually update customer specific planning databases through industry best practise in as efficient manner.
  • Works closely with the planning leaders and production schedulers to ensure manpower requirements are accurately planned and this information is available to key stakeholders such as Resource Planning and Head of Production. Works closely with the Production, Materials & Tooling managers to ensure continuous improvement of planning product to operations.
  • In partnership with the Planning & Engineering leaders, ensures that commercial awareness is employed with all planning and budget decisions made in the check planning process.
  • Acts as the escalation point when the Planning team are liaising with Sales managers to ensure hangar capacity and manpower availability are clear to the Sales team at all times.
  • Manage the Planning & Engineering budget and ensure cost saving measures are reviewed and implemented on a continual basis.
  • Ensure that projects are delivered on time, to budget whilst meeting all quality and H&S requirements while minimising disruption to the organisation.
  • Ensure that local authority regulations, health & safety compliance and office standards are observed and implemented throughout the team at all times.
  • Ensure that all staff are trained on the safety aspects associated with their work.
  • Any other duties as it relates to Planning & Engineering as outlined by your manager.

The Head of Planning & Engineering is required to be contactable out of hours for emergency related activities.

Experience Required

  • 8+ years of management experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in Planning/Engineering with relevant qualifications
  • Successful track record of relationship building, problem solving, influence, proactivity and sound judgement.
  • Problem solver with excellent organizational and project management skills, and the ability to be timely, responsive, and resourceful.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, as well as the ability to escalate appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work directly with cross-functional leaders and partners.
  • Proven success working with all roles and levels of management.
  • Excellent vendor and customer orientation.
  • Self-motivated, confident and methodical.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Fast comprehension, objective and reliable judgement.
  • Will be required to travel for business purposes.
  • Ability to generate new ideas and identify potential for improvement within the Department.
