Mechanical Coil Winder

Seeking a Skilled Mechanical Coil Winder to join a leading aerospace manufacturing environment in Yeovil on a contract basis.
This is a hands-on role working within an established engineering team, supporting the build and test of critical aircraft systems.
You’ll be involved in the assembly, fitting and testing of Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Life Support equipment, ensuring all work is completed to strict aerospace and regulatory standards.

Role: Skilled Mechanical Coil Winder (Contract)
Site: Yeovil, Somerset
Shift: Mon-Fri. 7am-3:30pm
Pay: £19.51/hr (Skilled Worker) or £20.08/hr (with an apprenticeship).
Plus 12.07% holiday pay in addition.

** Candidates must hold either a UK or NATO country passport to be eligible to work on this site.
Vetting will include a right to work check, drug screen, full 5 years’ referencing and a DBS check.

Main Responsibilities:

• Manufacture electrical coils and windings accurately and efficiently to engineering drawings and specifications
• Carry out mechanical fitting and testing of aerospace components and systems
• Work in line with Operator Control of Quality (OCQ) standards, stamping and verifying your own work
• Follow manufacturing instructions, technical documentation and quality procedures
• Work collaboratively within a team environment, liaising with engineers and designers

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Previous experience in coil winding and/or mechanical fitting (aerospace desirable, other manufacturing backgrounds considered)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
• Engineering apprenticeship (advantageous, not essential)
• Strong understanding of health & safety in a manufacturing environment
• Experience working to quality standards and procedures

• High attention to detail with a focus on safety-critical work
• Team player with a flexible, proactive approach
• PC literate
• Committed to continuous improvement (Lean, 5S, etc.)
