Obsolescence Engineer

Our client is a well-established company in the aerospace sector, operating since 1962 in the design and production of avionics equipment and systems for airplanes and helicopters.

Role: Obsolescence Engineer
Location: Cassina de’ Pecchi, Milan
Contract: Permanent

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in automotive, aerospace, or railway industries, demonstrating the ability to manage complex systems and mitigate obsolescence risks throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify, monitor, and assess obsolescence risks for electronic and mechanical components;
• Develop and implement proactive obsolescence management plans and mitigation strategies;
• Collaborate with design, procurement, and project teams to ensure continuity of supply and product compliance;
• Evaluate alternative components, suppliers, and redesign solutions when necessary;
• Maintain and update obsolescence databases and reports.
• Support customer and internal reviews, providing technical expertise on obsolescence-related topics;
• Act as a key decision-maker in technical and strategic obsolescence management discussions.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field;
• At least 10 years of experience in the electronics industry, preferably within automotive, aerospace, or railway sectors;
• In-depth knowledge of electronic components (active and passive) and mechanical assemblies;
• Strong understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) and obsolescence forecasting tools;
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make fast, informed decisions;
• Proactive, decisive, and capable of working both independently and within cross-functional teams;
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
