Seeking a Procurement Specialist – Manufacturing to work onsite in Yeovil, on a contract basis.
The Procurement Specialist will support the Purchasing Team, developing relationships with suppliers, ensuring engineering materials are available according to production plans, at the best price, and on time.
Communication with suppliers is crucial, actively seeking opportunities to streamline and strengthen these relationships. You’ll also ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.

Role: Procurement Specialist – Manufacturing (Contract)
Location: Yeovil, Somerset
Hours: Mon – Fri. 8am – 5pm. 100% office based with occasional travel to meet with suppliers.
Pay rate: £17.00 – £21.30 per hour DOE (PAYE only). Plus holiday pay in addition.
Main responsibilities:
- Managing material procurement in line with production needs
- Creating, maintaining, and closing Purchase Orders to align with operational requirements
- Monthly supplier forecasting
- Resolving invoice discrepancies, customs issues, and managing on-hold inventory
- Identifying any potential quality issues and work with Suppliers and internal Manufacturing Engineering for any defective products
- Ensuring timely delivery and resolving quality issues collaboratively with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Monitoring and managing supplier performance, including escalation where necessary
- Driving process improvements and building strong supplier relationships
- Supporting continuous improvement across procurement activities
Ideal candidate profile:
- Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally in an engineering production environment
- Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, within a target-driven, customer focused environment
- Advanced Excel and MS Office skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume setting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and numeracy skills
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functions
- Proactive, results-driven and collaborative
