Virtual Test Engineer

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Virtual Test Engineer to join on an initial 6-month contract. As the Virtual Test Engineer, you will be apart of the Smarter Testing project which aims to develop a novel testing and certification process for the airframe structures using an optimised test campaign that will combine virtual and physical tests. You will become the Centre of Excellence for Smarter Testing.

Role: Virtual Test Engineer
Pay: £45 per hour via Umbrella
Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Contract: 6-month contract
Location: Filton – mostly onsite
IR35 Status: Inside
SC Clearance: BPSS

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of data correlation workflows, methods, and tools
• Develop data correlation ontologies in collaboration with project partners
• Provide inputs into end-to-end digital thread for consolidation into testing data driven platform
• Support activities within Work Package 3 – Advanced Data Correlation

• Automation of existing correlation methods
• Development of methods for quantitative comparison of advanced measurements and virtual test data
• Quantification and management of uncertainties in test and simulation to enrich correlated data with coherence and variance values
• Data correlation strategy development to enable Test Protection and Condition-led Inspection
• Finite Element Models Validation framework to enable Hybrid Test Pyramid deployment through virtual testing

Skill Set
Essential –

• Good knowledge of numerical data handling
• Good knowledge of Simulation, Model based systems engineering
• Experience in using structural test data for the validation of simulations
• Business partnering mind-set (i.e., developing a trustful relationship, building empathy, and focusing on adding value)

Desirable –
Knowledge of:

• Automation tools – python
• FE tools – ABAQUS
• Spatial analyser
• GOM correlate
• Image correlation tools/software
