Our client has an opportunity for a Building and Construction Project Manager to join them on a contract for 12 months with possible extension. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong client-side construction project management experience, thrives in a fast paced setting, and enjoys leading projects from initial concept through to successful handover.
Role: Building and Construction Project Manager
Location: Belfast – fully onsite
Hours: 36 per week
Clearance: BPSS required before starting
Hourly Rate: £40.44 per hour via Umbrella, inside IR35
What you’ll be doing:
- Accountable for the delivery of identified capital projects, focusing on budget, schedule, and quality output in line with Airbus business needs.
- Managing budgets, controlling expenditure, and ensuring resources are used efficiently.
- Drive the management of project design development across the complete delivery lifecycle, including Design & Build stage to meet demanding deadlines.
- Manage directly and liaise with others in the management of stakeholders to ensure project timescales are met in line with internal governance and procedures.
- Providing clear leadership and direction to ensure all stakeholders/multi-functional project teams (internal and external) are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Building positive working relationships across internal and external teams.
- Procure, manage and direct a diverse range of consultant expertise across a multidisciplinary set of skills including, Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural), Environmental, Archaeological and Fire.
- Develop and maintain project delivery plans, CAPEX business cases, risk/opportunity registers, cash flow projections.
- Identifying and managing risks, escalating issues where necessary, and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Accountable for management of project control, including resourcing and service delivery requirements, ensuring consultant supervision where relevant and approving all payment certificates to external consultants and suppliers.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of construction service providers for capital projects, including conformance and compliance and proficient at escalating and managing any internal matters & change to the correct internal stakeholder.
- Ensuring all project documentation is accurate, compliant, and up?to?date.
- Maintaining strong health & safety standards throughout all project activities.
- Accountable for supervision of the project close-out activities, including commissioning and handover.
Essential Requirements:
- Possess a relevant third-level credential in engineering, design, or construction project management, or a or significant practical experience in construction/building services project management.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing large or multiple infrastructure/capital construction projects.
- Strong knowledge and experience of project management, contract management (i.e. through use of major contract forms, in particular NEC), strategic planning, methodologies and construction delivery best practice.
- Strong understanding of the full construction lifecycle and processes.
- Knowledge and experience of mobilising and managing the supply chain, including design services and construction works.
- Foundation-level knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems.
- Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety practices.
- Experience in preparing and presenting comprehensive project reporting
